Monitoring Solution Enhances Safety of Cardiac Device Patients

A new device keeps pacemaker and implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) wearers connected to their physician.

To use the device, the patient simply needs to connect it to a power source; it then automatically transmits the data to the BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring Service Center, using wireless, coded, telemetry. Consistent and reliable data transmission occurs both daily or when triggered by an event, and a call back message for patients enables physicians to get in contact with their patients whenever necessary.

BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring is intended to replace device interrogation during in-office follow-up visits, and to provide early detection of arrhythmias. It is available in over 55 countries, optimizing patient management around the world. Features offered include intelligent early detection, customizable fully programmable alerts with options to specify alert thresholds and ranges, and call-back alerts to notify the patient to contact the clinic. BIOTRONIK Home Monitoring and the CardioMessenger Smart are products of BIOTRONIK (Berlin, Germany).
