A System to Simplify Genetic Testing

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 10 Sep 2002
A standardized system integrates the discrete processes of genomic and proteomic analyses into a stand-alone, continuous-flow automated system in order to simplify genetic testing in laboratories and hospitals. More...

The system integrates technical innovations in microarray methodology, microfluidic and robotic process automation, reagent management, and operating system and bioinformatic software to produce sample-to-test results without manual intervention. The system was developed by AutoGenomics, Inc. (Carlsbad, CA, USA)

The discovery of genes and their link to various diseases is facilitating individual treatment, based on genetic makeup rather than symptoms of disease. This is leading to proactive rather than reactive diagnoses, predisposition screening of diseases, and eventually, personalized medicine.

The company's patent-pending thin film technology, called BioFilmChip microarray, in conjunction with its Qmatic operating software, gives users the versatility to perform multiple testing methodologies simultaneously while optimizing laboratory workflow. The new technology can be viewed on the AutoGenomics website for an in-depth display of its features and benefits.
