Posted on 23 Dec 2021
A new digital radiography (DR) system provides hospitals with a robust, flexible, and upgradable solution for their imaging needs. More...

The Agfa Healthcare (Mortsel, Belgium) VALORY is the newest addition to the company’s DR portfolio, intended for use as a back-up system in large hospitals, or as the main equipment in smaller healthcare facilities. It is available with a wide choice of a ceiling-suspended X-ray tubes, generators, and Dura-line Cesium Iodide (CsI) detectors that deliver robust reliability, cost-effectiveness, the potential for significant patient dose reduction, 15-hour battery autonomy, and the ability to share detectors between DR systems.

Additional features include autotracking and autocentering to keep exams moving quickly, with a smooth, efficient workflow that gets patients in and out fast; removable grids in the wall stand and table bucky that enable dose reduction for pediatric examinations; a radiographic table--available in a choice of fixed or elevating models--that supports a patient load of up to 320 kg; wireless panels to enhance safety and hygiene; and sealed buttons around the screen, a handle comprised of one solid component, smooth hoses around cables, and fluid protection mounted on the side of the table for quick and safe disinfection.

“VALORY is a key addition to our comprehensive portfolio: it offers an ideal solution as a backup for large hospitals, or as the main X-ray system for smaller healthcare facilities, where equipment reliability is not an option but a must,” said Georges Espada, head of DR for Agfa. “With VALORY, we aim to go beyond expectations, to prove that ‘simple’ doesn’t mean ‘basic’. VALORY offers a modern design and functionalities, while meeting the reliability, productivity and ease-of-use requirements of healthcare providers under pressure.”

As with other Agfa DR systems, VALORY is powered by Multi-Scale Image Contrast Amplification (MUSICA), a high-speed, multi-scale image processing platform that can also process moving images. Along with enhanced noise suppression and superb brightness control, MUSICA enhances image quality and workflow for radiographers and radiologists in skeletal, thorax, abdomen, and weight bearing x-ray exams, as well as during fluoroscopy.
