Intelligent Radiography System Guides Exam Workflow

By HospiMedica International staff writers
Posted on 09 Nov 2020
A new radiography system provides proactive guidance to help technologists of any skill level navigate a radiography procedure.

The Siemens Healthineers (Erlangen, Germany) YSIO X.pree is a ceiling-mounted radiography system designed to optimize clinical operations with the aid of a new 3D camera, advanced collimation features, and a smart image processing engine. More...
The new MyExam Companion touchscreen user interface provides proactive guidance to help technologists navigate procedures, by combining available patient data (such as gender and age) with machine-observable, patient-specific, information so as to identify optimal acquisition and reconstruction parameters for each radiography procedure.

The MyExam 3D camera speeds up the clinical workflow via a virtual collimation feature that precisely adjusts the size and shape of the X-ray beam. Smart Virtual Ortho functionality for orthopedic multi-image acquisitions sets the field of view and adjusts exposure parameters using a live camera image of the patient, making long-leg and full-spine examinations faster and easier to perform. Auto Thorax Collimation uses automated, AI-based body-part detection and collimation to accelerate workflows by analyzing the patient’s body contour and adjusting the collimator blades in less than half a second.

The new image processing database is designed to deliver image consistency by providing intelligent dynamic range optimization that displays images at pre-set preferred image contrasts. Intelligent noise elimination enables low-dose settings for all clinical tasks, with gridless acquisition available for free exposures, limiting the need for additional patient radiation dose. And artificial intelligence (AI)-based cropping is designed to produce well-cropped images every time.

“The YSIO X.pree ceiling-mounted radiography system represents a dramatic leap forward in intelligent X-ray imaging, providing our customers with an unprecedented level of intuitive operation for consistent X-ray images and potentially faster workflow,” said Niral Patel, vice president of X-Ray Products at Siemens Healthineers North America.
