Interface Links Automation and Coagulation Systems

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 12 Oct 2004
An automated interface is now available that links a modular diagnostic automation system with a coagulation workstation, increasing efficiency while maintaining the quality of results.

Specifically, the new interface links the Advia LabCell automation system of Bayer Diagnostics (Tarrytown, NY, USA) with the STA-R coagulation workstation of Diagnostica Stago (Asnieres, France). More...
LabCell incorporates specimen processing and transport, analytic engines to perform tests, and a data management system--all designed to improve productivity, consolidate testing, decrease sample volumes, and improve service to clinicians and patients. At the STA-R workstation, clotting, chromogenic, and immunologic assays are performed simultaneously in random-access fashion. The system's sample management offers high throughput and rapid processing of STAT samples without the need to interrupt current testing.

"With the addition of the Stago STA-R onto the Advia LabCell, we have been able to complete the implementation of our core laboratory and further strengthen the operational efficiencies we have incorporated into our daily routine,” noted Dr. J.L. Bedini, director of the core laboratory at Clinica Barcelona, Hospital Univerisitari (Spain). "This enhancement has increased our laboratory productivity while maintaining the quality of results and improving our service.”
