“Social Media Network” for the Chronically Ill

The Wellaho Personalized Outpatient Management System assists the collection of physiological data, such as blood pressure, blood sugar levels, and patient vital signs, from outpatients being treated for cancer and other chronic diseases. Physician-directed, web-based, and mobile platforms allow providers to supervise and monitor patients between office visits in a secure, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) compliant environment, while enabling patients to access their medical information, monitor their condition, stream relevant educational materials, and connect securely to their doctors and healthcare team.

The system maintains patient data on a secure data storage server that can be accessed by the patient, the patient’s doctors, and certain other health care providers. It also enables patients to provide daily personal updates about their own health status to describe their relative fatigue, pain level, mood, and how well they are eating. Patients also access medical information about their own health, monitor their condition, get relevant educational information, and to communicate with their doctors and healthcare team. The Wellaho system is a product of Sanitas (San Diego, CA, USA), and has been approved by the US food and drug Administration (FDA).
