ENT Microscope Documents and Shares Images

A new ear, nose, and throat (ENT) microscope facilitates teaching, documentation, and patient dialogue.

The multifocal objective lens provides a clear, true-to-life color view through apochromatically corrected optics with dual-LED illumination. Focal length can be regulated with a simple turn of the adjustment knob, allowing doctors to maintain an ergonomic work position while the image remains in focus (within a working distance of 200–300 mm), without maneuvering the microscope or changing position, which further simplifies procedures.

The integrated Full HD 1080p camera enables surgeons to gain greater efficiency and convenience at the point of care (POC). The camera captures images and video to a SD card within the camera; the images can also be transferred directly to patients' records via USB cable or the SD card itself. Live video can also be streamed to an external monitor, so that the findings can be easily discussed with patients, colleagues, or residents. The Leica M320 F12 is a product of Leica Microsystems (Wetzlar, Germany).

“We know that surgeons feel pain at the end of a day of surgery. The issue of proper ergonomics in surgical microscopy is more important than ever. The new objective is yet another enhancement of the ergonomically designed Leica M320 F12,” said Rosalie Villano, medical market development manager for Leica Microsystems' medical division. “This gives surgeons the ability to easily change the area of focus without interrupting workflow or changing posture.”
