Diagnostic System Improves ECG Data Management

A new workflow-driven electrocardiogram (ECG) diagnostic data management system supports different operating systems, database management systems, and multiple languages.

Among the features of the system are a workflow-driven user interface with an inbox feature; support for both Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh; full patient and recordings management with reviewing functions for resting ECG (with serial comparison) and resting rhythm; and built-in PDF report generation for easy sharing of information.

The new system offers seamless integration with all networked Schiller devices, as well as export of ECGs via a picture archiving and communication system (PACS) using the DICOM Standard, or retrieving orders from external systems using the DICOM modality work list. MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server support enables optional full integration into an existing back-end infrastructure and backup procedures, as well as role-based access control with optional access to centralized user management systems such as Microsoft Active Directory (LDAP).

A further benefit of the SEMA3 data management system is integration with the proprietary MS-12 blue ECG unit, a compact, mobile, and mains-independent 12-channel device with integrated Bluetooth data transmission technology that allows ECG data to be transmitted over a distance to a PC or laptop for evaluation. Using the MS-12 blue provides more freedom of movement for the patient and reduces motion artifacts. The integrated organic light emitting diode (OLED) display helps monitor parameters of a successful resting ECG examination such as signal quality, electrode contact, battery charging state, and Bluetooth signal strength.

The Schiller SEMA3 data management system is a product of Schiller (Baar, Switzerland), and is available in three tailored versions: SEMA Office (up to 4 Workstations), SEMA Professional (up to 20 Workstations), and SEMA Enterprise (25 or more Workstations), to suit the needs of the organization.
