Wireless Telemetry System for Maternal and Fetal Monitoring

The GE Mini Telemetry System is a compact, ergonomic, monitor that allows mothers to move around more naturally and engage in more activities and different types of birthing options. The small, light transmitter is easy to carry, and a recess in the unit improves safety through cable management. The backlit display screen of the transmitter displays battery and connection status, and has a mark key to notate fetal movement. Since the system uses waterproof Nautilus 9-cyrstal ultrasound transducers, expectant mothers can also monitor the baby while going to the bathroom or taking advantage of the soothing benefits of aquatherapy.

The system includes a compact, 3-port design that allows fetal heart rate (FHR), uterine activity, and electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring, including the ability to monitor twins. The wireless telemetry technology offers exceptional signal quality, letting mothers ambulate during labor within a range of 500 meters. Speakers and a headphone jack are built-in, offering audio monitoring of fetal heart rate while the mother is mobile. An extended-life battery accommodates the full duration of the average labor (up to 12 hours) with a built-in charging bay. The GE Mini Telemetry System is a product of GE Healthcare (Chalfont St. Giles, United Kingdom).
