World’s First Nonmagnetic MRI SpO2 Monitor Designed with Fully Functional Wireless Remote Control

The system is intended for use in MRI scanners with magnet strength ranging from 0.2-3.0 Tesla, and is operational up to the 10,000 Gauss line.

IRadimed Corp. (Winter Park, FL, USA) , a developer of patient fluid delivery systems for the MRI environment, announced the launch of the iMAGOX 2460 nonmagnetic MRI-compatible SpO2 monitor with state-of-the-art Masimo (Irvine, CA, USA) SET (signal extraction technology) inside. iMAGOX sets a new standard in development of products for MRI incorporating a nonmagnetic design combined with Masimo SET technology and a fully functional wireless remote control, providing clinicians with a remarkable ability to safely monitor their patients and interact with iMAGOX from outside of the scanner room.

The iMAGOX system uses a specially designed fiberoptic SpO2 sensor that, when used with the Masimo SET technology, provides effective SpO2 readings during conditions of low perfusion and/or patient movement. Unlike traditional SpO2 monitors, the system uses no wires to connect to the patient, which have been known to cause serious patient burns, and the iMAGOX system is not attracted to the magnet like other standard SpO2 systems.

The system’s large screen permits the patient’s SpO2 waveform and data to be viewed from several meters away. Transport to and from the MRI is simple with the iMAGOX system, because the monitor is lightweight and can be easily attached to an existing intravenous (IV) pole or bedrail. This combined with the system’s extended battery operation makes the system a great choice for continuous patient monitoring before, during and after the scan. iMAGOX also provides an optional wireless remote display/control that does not require any installation and gives the operator complete visibility and control from outside the scanner room.
iMAGOX will be shown at the European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna (Austria), March 2-5, 2012.

The new iMAGOX is CE Marked and is currently marketed globally outside of the United States through the IRadimed international distributor network.
