New Monitor Designed for Emerging Markets

A portable, compact patient monitor specifically designed for emerging markets provides a reliable yet affordable means to observe and care for patients in small to mid-sized clinics.

The monitor combines advanced software and technology in compact package and offers electrocardiography (ECG), respiration, and both continuous and intermittent measurements of pulse oximetry (SpO2), noninvasive blood pressure (NBP), and predictive temperature (pTemp). Monitor enhancements include improvements in the areas of patient records, data export, patient administration, networking, and improved board hardware. The VM3 is easy to set up, learn, use, and support, with intuitive navigation and color displays, which are bright and easy to read, even in low-light situations. The system can be used in various departments throughout the hospital, nursing homes, private practices, and rural clinics, as well as in ambulances and mobile facilities. The VM3 Suresigns monitor is a product of Royal Philips Electronics (Philips, Amsterdam, The Netherlands).

In addition to the VM3, Philips also launched the SureSigns vital signs viewer (VSV) to complement the VM-series patient monitors. The VSV is an affordable, reliable, and simple way to provide the benefits of central viewing and alarming without the complexity and expense of a traditional personal computer (PC)-based central station. The VSV displays vital signs data and one waveform from up to 12 patient monitors at a time.
