Wireless Display of Clinical Data Streamlines Patient Care

A new wireless display brings clinical data to the point of care, connecting physicians to patient information across the hospital.

Nurses can typically use the display to enter blood pressure, temperature, and other relevant data into an electronic patient record at the patient's bedside. The solution enables healthcare providers to take full advantage of their server-based computing architecture, where electronic medical records (EMRs), picture archiving and communication systems (PACS), and other patient files and applications are stored centrally.

The ProScribe is equipped with a 12.1-inch liquid crystal display (LCD) XGA touch screen, display-emulated keyboard, an integrated wireless local area network (LAN) driver, and can be operated without any other external devices. Server access is provided by one of three pre-installed thin clients; Citrix ICA, Microsoft RDP or Internet Explorer. The display is equipped with a 1GHz VIA-based x 86 processor and a Microsoft Windows XP embedded operating system. The lightweight disk- and fan-free unit has been made drop-and-water resistant to minimize the risk of unproductive time in hospital wards.
