System Monitors Patient Anywhere in Hospital

A new patient-care system that can turn any patient's bed into a monitored bed provides patient data to clinicians anywhere in the hospital, regardless of where the patient is. More...
The system can monitor basic vital signs only or a complete range of parameters.

Called the Dash 4000, the system is the product of GE Medical Systems Information Technologies (Milaukee, WI, USA). The system improves clinical decision making by providing algorithms that help doctors diagnose abnormal heart conditions, an interpretive 12-lead electrocardiograph (ECG) system, and the leading technology for noninvasive blood-pressure monitoring. A wireless local area network (LAN) ensures connectivity anywhere in the hospital. A convenient docking station for connection to the Unity Network eases the transition from transport to bedside monitoring, with no loss of data.

"We want to help health care providers move patients to less-intensive settings as soon as possible without compromising the quality of care,” said Kevin M. King, vice president and global manager of clinical systems for GE Medical Systems Information Technologies.
