Alliance on Hemodynamic Monitoring

A collaboration focused on new noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring involves GE Medical Systems (Milwaukee, WI, USA) and CardioDynamics International Corp. More...
(San Diego, CA, USA). The companies are jointly developing a module to integrate CardioDynamics' BioZ impedance cardiography (ICG) technology into GE's Solar patient monitoring system.

ICG noninvasively measures the heart's blood flow characteristics, providing hemodynamic data not previously available in a doctor's office or in many hospital settings. As a result, doctors previously had to subjectively treat patients without hemodynamic information or utilize an invasive, risky procedure called pulmonary artery catheterization (PAC), which could have many serious complications. Now, this information will be provided in the Solar patient monitors, allowing doctors to improve care while reducing costs.

"This is an exciting time for CardioDynamics and GE. For the first time, clinicians will witness noninvasive hemodynamic monitoring integrated into a bedside monitor,” said Michael K. Perry, CEO of CardioDynamics.
