BSN Medical Buys DePuy's Casting/Splinting Business

The acquisition of the casting and splinting business of DePuy, Inc. More...
(Warsaw, IN, USA; www.depuy.com) has been announced by BSN Medical, Inc. (Charlotte, NC, USA; www.bsnmedical.com). Terms were not disclosed.

BSN Medical is the U.S. orthopedics affiliate of BSN Medical GmbH & Co., the German-based joint venture between Beiersdorf AG (Hamburg, Germany) and Smith & Nephew PLC (London, UK). The transaction is subject to merger clearance by a number of national authorities in Europe.

"The acquisition will strengthen BSN's global fracture management business, especially in the large US market,” said Graham Siddle, chief executive of BSN Medical. "Furthermore, it illustrates our strategy of targeting attractive bolt-on products and companies that add real value to BSN.”
