International Remote Imaging Plans Name Change

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 08 Oct 2003
Assuming the required shareholder approval is received, International Remote Imaging Systems, Inc. More...
(IRIS, Chatsworth, CA, USA) will change its name to IRIS International, Inc., according to a company announcement.

IRIS is a manufacturer and marketer of automated in vitro diagnostic urinalysis systems and medical devices for hospitals and clinical laboratories. The company recently introduced its new IQ 200 system, a fully automated urine chemistry and microscopic analyzer. IRIS has a worldwide network of distributors covering 18 countries and has established a European subsidiary. The company's Iris Diagnostics Division is prominent in automated urinalysis technology, with workstations in major medical institutions throughout the world, and its patented technology and recognition software have made significant reductions in the cost and time required for manual microscopic analysis.

"With a new flagship product, updated manufacturing facilities, and new customers around the world, it is appropriate that the company has a new name,” said Dr. Kshitij Mohan, CEO. "It will further strengthen our brand and recognition among our customers and within the investment community.” IRIS has two subsidiaries, StatSpin (sample preparation for blood analysis products, Norwood, MA, USA) and Advanced Digital Imaging Research (proprietary imaging research, Houston, TX, USA).
