Called VersaSeal Plus, the universal seal self-adjusts to accept 4.5 mm-12 mm instruments without external converters and provides a hands-free exchange of instruments. The seal has been shown to be extremely durable, says the Auto Suture Division of United States Surgical (Norwalk, CT, USA), which developed the technology. The VersaSeal Plus will be offered on select products in the division's VersaPort, Visiport, Bluntport, and VersaStep lines.

"The Auto Suture Division of United States Surgical is focused on providing surgeons and health care professionals with innovative solutions to their needs,” said Ronald F. "With this in mind, VersaSeal Plus is a completely new and revolutionary technology that will be a key element in the high performance and success of our access port products as we move forward.”
