Secure Images and Reports with New e-Mail

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 26 Sep 2002
A new e-mail service will allow any type of document, such as a radiology or laboratory report, to be speedily delivered to any recipient via encrypted e-mail and without the need for additional software.

With the new service, users can initiate and access secure messages from a desktop computer by a secure e-mail plug. More...
The communications will be sent via open networks. The service enables users to utilize existing systems, while adding a security layer for encryption and authentication choices. The service was developed by Sigaba (San Mateo, CA, USA; www.sigaba.com) and is being offered by Siemens Medical Solutions (Erlangen, Germany; www.siemensmedical.com) as applied to its existing e-mail system. The service will provide doctors with immediate access to vital patient data, while streamlining the revenue cycle, says Siemens.

"The Siemens solution is just what the doctor ordered: a simple, scalable, easy-to-use yet rock-solid secure communications approach for the healthcare community,” said John Ferraro, president and COO of Sigaba.
