The implants are radiolucent with radio-dense markers to enable accurate positioning and placement, and are available in seven heights angled 0° and 7°. Additionally, the VBR implants feature uni-directional ridges designed to prevent implant migration. The Crystal spinal spacers are made from Peek-Optima, a biocompatible and stable polyetherketone polymer manufactured by Invibio (Lancashire, UK). The system includes a color-coded instrument system designed to enable the surgeon to safely and quickly perform the procedure. The system has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

"The Crystal VBR is one of several products we will be introducing this year as Quantum Orthopedics broadens its product offering. This product adds to a successful line of vertebral body replacement devices that we currently offer,” said Todd Andres, president and CEO of Quantum Orthopedics.

Invibio's Peek-Optima polymer is used in the development of implantable medical devices and pharmaceutical applications having blood or tissue contact for more than 30 days. It is available in a range of forms that offer virtually unlimited design solutions.
