Orthopedic PACS Used in Sports Medicine

A new picture archiving and communications system (PACS) provides surgeons fast, easy desktop access to the orthopedic images, tools, and reports they require, enabling surgeons to perform their work more productively, cost-effectively, and securely.

The Sectra PACS, developed by Sectra Imtec AB (Linkoping, Sweden), a medical information technology (IT) company, addresses the ever-expanding set of challenges an orthopedic surgeon faces each day, including the pressure to reduce costs and deliver faster, higher-quality patient care.

This facility has incorporated a sophisticated set of patient data and medical record systems with the new PACS. "With Sectra PACS, we have improved out workflow and the overall efficiency of the clinic, resulting in a high level of patient care and a better overall patient experience. Sectra's dedication to Orthopedic PACS, and their strong customer service and support, has resulted in a stable transition from film to a digital-based environment,” stated Dr. Joyce.

By reducing the need to physically access medical images on film, Sectra PACS allows an orthopedic practice to cover a much wider geographic range and additional patients. Sectra PACS enhances workflow and enables flexible staffing by allowing the review of an examination on any workstation, regardless of location and regardless of where the examination was performed. Sectra PACS allows for a combination of diagnostic workstations, web-based exam room and quality assurance stations, and surgeon office access, providing any image, any time, any place.

Sectra PACS for orthopedics can be integrated with an existing radiology PACS system or act as a stand-alone system for the private orthopedic practice, meeting the specific needs of each orthopedic surgeon.
