An interactive software platform with advanced data analysis capabilities provides healthcare organizations with insight on patient care. More...

The platform was developed through cooperation between Cerner (Kansas City, MO, USA) and Tableau Software (Seattle, WA, USA). Tableau will provide a highly intuitive visual analytics interface, which will offer healthcare organizations a joint data discovery and visualization software solution. Through the data mining and analysis process of current clinical, financial, and environmental data, organizations can derive meaningful insight to identify trends, improve clinical decision support, and enable continuous improvement.

Tableau's data visualization tools (which are known for having an intuitive user interface that non-IT personnel can work with), together with Cerner's analytics and data warehousing HealtheAnalytics and HealtheEDW enterprise software, can help uncover data that could have gone undetected in static reports based on traditional business intelligence approaches. The new insights garnered could help healthcare organizations make decisions contributing to patient care, resource management, and workflow initiatives.

“With preventable health conditions rising, finding new ways to improve health and care through data analysis is key,” said Adam Christmann, general manager of reporting and analytics at Cerner. “By providing our clients with the ability to easily know, predict, and evaluate population data, they have the ability to make strategic decisions that can impact outcomes based on large volumes of data.”

“Tableau's mission is to help people see and understand their data. Our collaboration with Cerner is an exciting step forward in doing this,” said Scott Jones, senior vice president of Americas sales at Tableau Software. “Combining Cerner's leading health care information technology expertise with Tableau's advanced data discovery capabilities will support organizations in making data-driven decisions through face-up, meaningful information.”
