A system to screen, diagnose, and monitor patients with cardiovascular disease is being exclusively distributed in China by ShenZhen Filiale Shen Yong Medical-Pharmacal Co. More...
(Shenzhen), according to an announcement by Hypertension Diagnostics, Inc. (HDI, St. Paul, MN, USA), which developed the system.

Called the CVProfilor, the system measures a blood pressure waveform produced by the beating heart. Data captured during a patient test is analyzed and reported in just minutes in printed and graphical form. The data provided include a graph of the blood pressure waveform, body mass index, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, mean arterial blood pressure, pulse pressure, pulse rate, large artery elasticity, and small artery elasticity.

"Heart attacks claim approximately 2.8 million lives annually, affecting both the health of the Chinese people and their economy by driving up health-care costs,” said Greg H. Guettler, president of HDI. "China has approximately 1.5 million doctors and 90,000 hospitals. Preventing cardiovascular disease in the Chinese population is of great importance to these doctors and we see this market as a source of opportunity for us in the future.”
