Circon Changes Name to ACMI

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 26 Mar 2002
A name change has been announced by Circon Corp. More...
(Framingham, MA, USA), a leading manufacturer and marketer of products for urology, gynecology, and surgical applications. Henceforth, the company will be called American Cystoscope Makers, Inc. (ACMI). The name will embrace all the various business entities of Circon.

Circon purchased ACMI in 1986 to capitalize on its sales force. In 1995, the combined company bought Cabot Medical, known for its development of suction irrigation and laparoscopy gynecology products. At that time, Cabot owned Surgitek, known for urology stents. Over the past 10 years, Circon has marketed products under each of the company names. In the future, however, all of Circon's products will be marketed under the ACMI name.

"Consolidating our many product offerings under a single name will help eliminate customer confusion and facilitate seamless interactions within the company,” said Greg Barrett, president and CEO of ACMI. "Our decision to focus on the ACMI name comes from the 100-year heritage of innovation, quality, and service ACMI possesses.”
