Avail Medical Expands Into China

By HospiMedica staff writers
Posted on 30 Jan 2005
n expansion into China has been announced by Avail Medical Products, Inc. More...
(Fort Worth, TX, USA), commencing with the construction of a new manufacturing plant in Shenzhen (China).

The new plant is scheduled to open during the third quarter of 2005. Avail China is a wholly owned subsidiary of Avail Medical and will be staffed with Avail employees. The location was chosen for its ease of access to world markets, since it is less than two hours by truck to Hong Kong, the world's largest container port. Avail China will focus on the delivery of single-use medical devices for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) around the world.

Avail Medical notes that the global medical device market is forecast to grow about 7% through the end of the decade, while finished goods outsourcing will grow at more than double that rate. "This kind of growth requires the medical device outsourcer to provide its customers with multiple alternatives in terms of capabilities, locations, continuous process-improvement programs and lost-cost opportunities,” observed J. Randall Keene, president and CEO of Avail Medical. "Avail's presence in China is just one more building block in the ongoing effort to support our customers' requirements.”

Avail Medical is a global leader in developing and manufacturing sterile, single-use medical devices.
