Health technology company Royal Philips (Amsterdam, the Netherlands) showcased its recently unveiled portfolio of digital imaging systems, and artificial intelligence (AI)-driven software and services at the 2017 Radiological Society of North America Annual Meeting (RSNA) held in Chicago from November 26 through December 1.

Philips' integrated portfolio of digital imaging systems, smart devices, informatics and services help radiologists to improve outcomes, simplify data and insights gathering, lower the cost of healthcare delivery, and enhance patient and staff satisfaction.

Among Philips’ new imaging solutions which debuted at RSNA 2017 was the latest configuration of the IQon Spectral CT, the world's first spectral detector-based Computed Tomography (CT) scanner, the Azurion Image-Guided Therapy platform, Vereos fully digital PET/CT, and a series of OB/GYN ultrasound solutions.

At this year's RSNA, Philips highlighted advanced imaging technology, including a new magnetic resonance (MR) imaging system and other solutions, its newest premium digital radiography-fluoroscopy (DRF) system, ProxiDiagnost N90 DXR, a first-of-its-kind, single-transducer solution featuring the eL18-4 PureWave linear array transducer for small parts imaging, CardioMD IV and BodyMD SPECT solutions, anatomical intelligence for whole breast ultrasound, and the Philips IntelliSite Pathology Solution.

Philips also unveiled its latest AI-driven intelligent solutions and advanced visualization in radiology, including the next iteration of IntelliSpace Portal, the IntelliSpace Enterprise Edition for Radiology and the Philips PerformanceBridge.

Additionally, at the Machine Learning Showcase, Eran Rubens, Chief Technology Officer of Enterprise Imaging at Philips, presented "AI is Already All Around Us - How AI Makes Us Better," with a look at how Philips Illumeo with adaptive intelligence is augmenting the human experience.

"As radiologists navigate the road to value-based care, they face a simultaneous shift to a patient-centric model and a greater volume of cases," said Robert Cascella, Chief Business Leader Diagnosis & Treatment businesses for Royal Philips. More...
"By addressing these burdens using artificial intelligence, Philips continues to develop new and intelligent technologies designed to augment the radiologist's expertise. Our ultimate goal is to enable them to obtain high quality images the first time."
