Innovative Warmer Safeguards Newborn Wellbeing

By HospiMedica International staff writers
Posted on 12 Jul 2011
A newborn warmer bed offers exceptional thermal performance without an overhead heater, making procedures such as X-rays and surgery easier for attending clinicians. More...

The Panda Infant Warmer is based on an hourglass heat profile that bathes the baby in soothing warmth, thanks to an innovative recessed heater that completely eliminates the traditional, often awkward, overhead design. A brilliant full-color control panel displays all patient information, and advanced motion-controlled alarms and can be turned off with the wave of a hand in front of the integrated sensor, helping to maintain a clean environment. Further controls allow the bed to be warmed up with no nuisance alarms, keeping the environment quiet and stress-free for caregivers and parents. Light levels are easily controlled, supplying the correct amount of light when needed, and an integrated easy-to-position procedure light reduces the need for additional external lighting.

Other features of the warmer include an integrated resuscitation system, with minimal setup, for use in high-risk deliveries; an integrated oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitor that checks blood saturation levels and heart rate noninvasively, without additional equipment; and an integrated scale that measures the baby’s first weight right at the bedside. All parameters are displayed on the bed’s full-color control panel. Others options include multiple drawer packages for optimal storage, an elevating base, and an integrated X-ray cassette tray. The Panda Warmer is a product of GE Healthcare (Chalfont St Giles, United Kingdom).
